Student visa for Italy

Student visa is not necessary for students coming from European Union, European Economic Area and Switzerland. These students must apply for a residence permit upon arrival to Italy. Students coming from third countries and wish to study longer than 3 months must have student visa (national visa - D) and they also need to apply for residence permit in order to get legal stay.
